April 2019 Newsletter

It is difficult but necessary to lead with mentioning the passing of two special people. Paul Kraco - age 82 passed away at home on February 15th after a long illness. Paul is survived by his wife Florence who, along with Paul, were instrumental and dedicated founding members of our club. Paul was an individual I could visit with for hours about life and it's experiences. Mary Ruesch – Beloved wife of Clarence (Claire) for over 65 years, passed away on February 6th. Clarence has become a good friend, and I look forward to seeing him playing Bocce with us this summer.

URGENT! At this time we anticipate 30 teams, but we still have teams and individuals that have yet to pay dues. It is imperative to have a complete list before our April 18th meeting. Partial teams are keeping me from filling in with current members or new members waiting for a team. The April 18th meeting is the deadline because there are schedules to be written and forms to be printed for our first day of play May 2nd. This is our last request for all players. If Louise or I do not hear from you, I will be calling you!

Making friends through Bocce is a big part of playing. In 2019 we anticipate a 20 week schedule with a May 2nd start, July 11th picnic, September 26th playoffs and Banquet. The Bocce Club is open to all Lake Summerset adult residents and lot owners. We have the courts reserved on Thursdays, May through September, and play regularly scheduled games starting at 9:45 A.M. each week. Our spring meeting date at the lodge is April 18th at 2 PM. Come join us at the bocce courts this summer.
