July 2018 Newsletter
Passed on May 12th but never forgotten is Jerry Kirk. Jerry was with our Bocce Club from the beginning and is best described as a caring friend to all that knew him. Join us on July 7th from noon until 5 pm at Ref's Bar and Grill in Durand for a celebration of his life. Bring pictures, stories and a dish to pass.
Seven weeks played and great weather has prevailed making for some fast and interesting court conditions. The canopies are holding up well despite the storms and shade is valuable. There is one unbeaten team, only three teams with one loss but every team has at least one win. This really makes it fun and some close games.
Just a reminder to all players to arrive 30 minutes early for your game, we also have the occasional cancellation but if Gerry knows ahead of time we try to move start times. If you are concerned about the heat and can't play, it is an individual team decision, and we treat it as any other makeup game. Call the opposing team and then call Gerry. We will do whatever is necessary to get the game played later.
Summer picnic is set for July 5th at the lodge and food is being catered by The Fire Barn. Starting at one o'clock, it is BYOB and a desert to share. We will also serve coffee.
Thank You Chuck Wiley for placing the flags along the drive in for Memorial Day. You are the best!
The Bocce Club is open to all Lake Summerset residents and lot owners and we have the courts reserved on Thursdays, May through September, and play regularly scheduled games starting at 10:00 A.M. each week. Season membership fee is $10.00 per person and $1.00 for each week of play. Come check us out.
